teaches the AQA History
specification.

This specification consists of the following four units: Unit 1 and 2 form the
AS level Units 3 and 4 complete the full A level.

AS Unit 1: Change & Consolidation

This unit helps students to develop a strong sense of historical perspective by understanding changes over a period of time.

AS Unit 2: Historical Issues: Periods of Change

This unit looks at the relationships between ideas, individuals and other factors that contribute to change over a two decade period.

A2 Unit 3: The State & the People: Change & Continuity

This unit looks at a period of about 50 years and the changes and continuity arising. The focus is on the relationship between the state and the people.

A2 Unit 4: Historical Enquiry: Coursework

This unit allows students to demonstrate how their skills and understanding have developed by producing a piece of coursework about changes over a 100 year period.

There are many History degrees at university and combines well with other subjects e.g. Politics & Modern History (PMH), Economics & Modern History (EMH) or International Relations. History is integral to Archaeology and Egyptology and forms a significant part of combined degrees such as African-, American-, Asian-, European-, Islamic-, Oriental- or Women's Studies, etc.

History graduates are highly employable in all sectors of the economy, especially industry, commerce and the professions. Some go into Finance, the Law or the Civil Service. Others obtain employment in the media (journalism, television, broadcasting, advertising,); information technology; libraries, museums, teaching or tourism.

The study of this subject teaches you to be analytical, gives you the ability to see situations from different viewpoints and gives you evaluation skills which are vital in today's society. To be able to look back and learn from the mistakes through History is a much valued skill.
